Public Biography
Scott McGrath is the program manager for CITRIS Health’s ACTIVATE program and the California LGTBQ+ Older Adult survey.

Dr. McGrath’s research line is focused on the genomic pillar of precision medicine, particularly the challenge of genomic data interpretation by health care providers. Prior to joining CITRIS, Dr. McGrath was a clinical informatics education specialist for Providence St. Joseph developing curriculum and training material for their Epic EHR build, focusing on inpatient provider and nursing applications. In addition to his work at Providence, he has served in several adjunct assistant professor roles, teaching informatics courses at Ohio University, Indiana University, University of New England, University of Montana and others. He has had an opportunity to serve in leadership roles in the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) as chair of the Working Group Steering committee, member of the AMIA governance task force, and a guest of the AMIA board.

Dr. McGrath received his doctorate in biomedical informatics in health informatics and his master’s in biomedical informatics with a bioinformatics concentration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). He received his bachelor’s degree from Linfield University in biology.
