Dr. Geller is Professor and Chair-elect of the Computer Science Department, NJIT and he cofounded the Medical Informatics Laboratory there. He was senior-CoPI on two NLM grants and four ARRA supplements, totaling over $2,500,000, on auditing methods, abstraction algorithms and software tools for UMLS and SNOMED. He published over 150 journal/conference papers and book chapters, mostly in AMIA, JAMIA, JBI and AIIM. He co-edited Special JBI Issues Auditing of Terminologies (2009), and Research on Structural Issues in the UMLS (2003). He received the NJIT Master Teacher Designation and three other awards for introducing informatics as CS subject, and an NJIT research award. Recently he published a widely distributed article on Integrity of Science. He is particularly known for work on partitioning, abstraction, visualization, and auditing of medical terminologies.
