Preventing Cancer

The next generation of informaticians are already embarking on powerful work to discover health insights. For Morgan Harrell, Graduate Student, PhD Candidate, it’s mining data through clinical trial databases for cancer-related gene fusions – hybrid genes that play roles in tumorigenesis – to help underscore the importance of a comprehensive cancer-related gene fusion network to assist in targeting cancer-associated genes.

Why Informatics? So, we can better understand which people may be more susceptible to tumors in order to prevent, rather than treat, cancer.
