More than eight in 10 doctors across the country, or 83 percent, have adopted electronic healthcare record systems (EHRs).
In a recent article published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, informaticians explore adherence rates using a second monitor, mirroring the EHR for patients while in a physicians’ office.
What did they discover? A second screen used to mirror an EHR improves patient engagement, improving transparency of the care process and documentation, and providing a significantly different experience for patients than the more common single screen.
Why informatics? So, patients can be directly engaged with their own healthcare through EHR access.
