In a Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association article, author Jung Hun Ohn, PhD, explores how the associations between diseases and their traits can predict other illnesses.
What did he discover? By calculating large-scale genotype data, there are significant correlations among hundreds of diseases, such as cancers and metabolic and autoimmune diseases.
Why informatics? So, we can predict what diseases are likely to occur based on a person’s genetics to inform screening measures.
