The Academic Forum Communities are at the center of all Academic Forum activities. Each community offers leadership opportunities and engagement with programs across the United States.

The communities provide a forum for Academic Forum Representatives to convene with others in their field of expertise across all disciplines within the health informatics community.

Academic Forum Communities

The following communities are only accessible to current Academic Forum Members.

Baccalaureate Educators Community (BEC)

The Baccalaureate Education Community (BEC) connects individuals who are responsible for teaching and managing Baccalaureate Health Informatics courses.

Biomedical and Health Informatics Academic Leaders (BMHI-ALC)

The Community of Biomedical and Health Informatics Academic Leaders (BMHI-ALC) connects individuals who are responsible for the leadership and management of academic units whose primary emphasis is Biomedical and/or Health Informatics.

Membership in BMHI-ALC is contingent upon both a) membership of the unit in the academic forum and b) the leader meeting the criteria of “charged with the oversight and operation of resources (space, funding) and people (faculty, staff, students, specifically recruitment, appointment, retention, and promotion) in Biomedical and Health Informatics academic units (e.g. Schools, Institutes, Departments, Divisions, specifically the top level organizing unit for BMHI at the institution, housing educational programs and/or serving as a faculty home for BMHI).

Clinical Informatics Program Directors (CIPD)

The Community of Clinical Informatics Program Directors (CIPD) provides leadership to establish and maintain high standards of excellence in clinical informatics training programs. CIPD encourages the development of ACGME­ accredited fellowships in clinical informatics and supports the continued evolution of these programs.

Academic Leaders in Nursing Informatics (ALNI)

The Community of the Academic Leaders in Nursing Informatics (ALNI) provides leadership to establish and maintain high standards of excellence in nursing informatics programs. ALNI offers a forum for nursing informatics programs, aspiring nursing informatics programs, and other interested parties to exchange information and ideas.
