AMIA Awards

AMIA presents a number of awards in recognition of special accomplishment in the field of informatics. There are four types of AMIA awards: Signature Awards, Leadership Awards, Research Awards, and Working Group Awards. Awards are presented in special ceremonies at AMIA’s annual conferences during plenary sessions and at special events.

New! AMIA Doctoral Dissertation Award
Fundraising Campaign

AMIA is pleased to announce a new research award, annually honoring the top doctoral dissertation in the field of biomedical informatics. A generous contribution designated to launch a Matching Fund Challenge has been established to endow the award. Donations will be matched up to $100,000.

The AMIA Doctoral Dissertation Award offers high-value and prestigious recognition for the top doctoral dissertation each year that contributes to the science of informatics in any biomedical application domain or domains.

The AMIA Signature Awards program provides an opportunity for AMIA members at different stages of their career to be recognized for significant contributions to the field of informatics.
AMIA provides a series of merit awards each year for research work submitted to its Annual Symposium and the Joint Summits on Translational Science through the peer-review process.
Leadership awards are given by the Chair of the Board and the President and CEO for outstanding volunteer leadership and service to the association.
AMIA Working Groups issue several awards presented at AMIA annual conferences. Working Group Awards are originally sponsored by a Working Group and approved by the AMIA Awards Committee and Board of Directors.
The AMIA Student Paper Competition is held annually at the AMIA Symposium.
