Health eDecisions (HeD; www.healthedecisions.org) is a public-private initiative sponsored by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) to enable interoperable clinical decision support (CDS) at scale. The objective of HeD is to develop and validate standards to support (i) sharing knowledge artifacts for import into CDS systems and (ii) sharing patient-specific inferencing capabilities as software services.

In this Webinar, several of the leaders of the HeD initiative will describe the initiative purpose; its methods; the functional requirements and standards developed; and the piloting of the standards by multiple institutions, including CDS content vendors and EHR vendors. The standards developed by the initiative will be available to policy makers for potential inclusion in future EHR certification requirements.
The results of the HeD initiative may have a significant impact on the future landscape for CDS specifically and health IT in general.

Learning Objectives

During this webinar, you will learn about:

  • Why standards-based, interoperable CDS is needed
  • How HeD is seeking to address the need for standards-based, interoperable CDS
  • The HeD/HL7 CDS Knowledge Artifact Implementation Guide and other HeD reference materials
  • How the HeD/HL7 CDS Knowledge Artifact Implementation Guide can be used to represent CDS artifacts including rules, order sets, and documentation templates
