The University of Maryland School of Medicine offers a two-year fellowship program, leading to board-eligibility in Clinical Informatics. The program is hosted by the Department of Emergency Medicine in collaboration with faculty holding appointments in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Diagnostic Radiology, Emergency Medicine, Information Systems, and Internal Medicine. Our fellows spend roughly 50% of their time rotation through a number of informatics settings, 25% of their time on didactics, and 25% of their time working in their primary board specialty. A non-physician tract is available for nurses, pharmacists, biologists, computer scientists, and those in related fields. A board review conference is available for physicians outside the program who are preparing to take the certification examination in Clinical Informatics.
