Biomedical informatics (BMI) at Arizona State University focuses on breadth and depth of the field, including concentrations in bioinformatics, imaging informatics, clinical informatics, population health informatics, and knowledge discovery. With strong synergies within our computer science department, we also offer foci on cross-cutting areas such as software engineering, data and knowledge representation, data mining and predictive modeling. The Department of Biomedical Informatics offers a master’s degree and doctorate in biomedical informatics.
BMI is now located at the Mayo Clinic campus in Scottsdale, leveraging its well-developed partnership with Mayo Clinic as well as with several other leading health care delivery organizations such as Banner Health, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. With further strong collaborations with the Translational Genomics Research Institute, ASU’s Biodesign Institute and the Arizona Department of Public Health, the program is positioned to offer an outstanding range of research opportunities for our students.
