    AMIA 2016 Annual Symposium

    AMIA 2016 Annual Symposium is the 40th anniversary of the Symposium. We want this year to be a homecoming that energizes our new and longtime members, welcomes attendees who haven’t visited the meeting in a few years; and attracts first time attendees to the incredible informatics community AMIA represents.

To sign up for a tutorial or a Working Group pre-symposia, please check the appropriate box under Tutorials/Special Events on the online registration form.

Note: If you would like to attend a tutorial or a Working Group Pre-symposia only, you will need to register for the day the tutorial is offered by selecting Daily as your registration type.

If you have already registered for AMIA 2016, but at a later date would like to add any of the Pre-symposium Workshops, Tutorials or Working Group presymposia events or the Networking Meet-up, please follow these instructions.

Member Rates

Member rates apply to anyone who has a full AMIA membership for 2016 ($350 dues). They do not apply to the trial membership and the affiliate membership.

Author Rates

Author rates apply to primary authors of all AMIA 2016 accepted papers, posters, podium abstracts, and system demonstrations, and all panel and tutorial/working group pre-symposia. Author rates do not apply to secondary authors.

Student Rates

Student Rates are for full-time students. They do not apply to part-time students. All students MUST present proof of student status including both a photocopy of a current, valid student ID plus a letter from the university/college registrar’s office verifying current full-time enrollment in a degree or post-doctoral program at the time of AMIA 2016 Annual Symposium.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of a conference registration does not constitute cancellation of a hotel room. Please be sure to handle both separately. Cancellation and refund requests must be received by AMIA in writing (e-mail your request Dasha Cohen, AMIA Director of Meetings at dasha@amia.org or fax it to 301-657-1296). By September 22, 2016: Full refund minus $50 processing fee. Between September 23 and October 27, 2016: 50% refund. After October 27: No refunds will be issued. However, registrations can be transferred to another member of your organization.

Transfer of Paid Registrations Policy

Registrants who are unable to attend the meeting may transfer their registration to another person. Transfer of registration must be in writing and received by the AMIA office by November 3, 2016 or presented on-site. If a member registration is transferred to a non-member, that person will have to pay the difference between the member and the non-member rates.


Online registration is for credit card payment only. If you would like to pay by check, purchase order, or wire transfer, send or fax the print registration form to the AMIA office.

Consent to Use Photographic Images

Registration and participation in AMIA meetings and activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to AMIA's use and distribution of the registrant or attendee's images or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, and audio record such events and activities.
