Capitol Hill Day
Hill Day Overview
AMIA Capitol Hill Day is the preeminent opportunity for AMIA members to come to Washington, D.C., and meet with members of Congress and their staffs face-to-face. Prior to the event, participants receive briefing materials on the key issues to be discussed.
Once in Washington, members participate in a morning legislative briefing, attend scheduled meetings with members of Congress and their staffs, and report the results in a debriefing session. Participation in this event is important for AMIA.
The time that members spend on Hill Day demonstrates the biomedical and health informatics community’s dedication to federal policymaking. This is a prime opportunity to educate members of Congress and their staffs about informatics and communicate AMIA’s positions on important health policy issues where legislation is crafted—Capitol Hill.
Priority topics for Hill Day discussions are generally finalized 3-6 months prior to the event by the BOD in conjunction with the, PPC Chair, AMIA President and CEO, and the AMIA VP for Public Policy and Government Relations.
Historically, Hill Day occurs in the 1st or 2nd quarter of the year and is mindful of the Congressional schedule. Click to read AMIA's most recent Hill Day FAQ document.
