Janise Richards is a Health Scientist (Informatics) and works as a Senior Informatics Advisor in the Global Aids Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this position she participates in strengthening health systems in PEPFAR funded countries such as South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana and Kenya, through providing technical assistance in health information systems assessment and evaluation and informatics capacity development.

She has led information systems evaluations in Mozambique and consulted on information system evaluations in South Africa and Uganda. She has a strong research interest in qualitative approaches to assessment and has worked with in-country assessment teams in building interviewing and qualitative data analysis skills.

Dr. Richards has been a consultant and visiting lecturer to numerous academic institutions including three universities in Australia and the medical school in Fiji. She has taught post-graduate courses in informatics at University of Texas-Austin, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and Emory University. She has been an invited speaker for over 150 technology and informatics presentations.
