Clinical Decision Support

After 15 years' growth in AMIA's work in clinical informatics, a group of members convened by the AMIA President to coordinate AMIA decision support activities proposes formation of a new Clinical Decision Support Working Group. The purpose of this Working Group is to gather AMIA members sharing an interest in clinical decision support for in-person and electronic discussions, share ideas and experiences in this area, and help organize clinical decision support activities at AMIA meetings.Activities for the Decision Support Workgroup:

• Serve as a collection point and forum for AMIA members who are experienced in, or exploring, the field of clinical decision support.
• Develop mechanisms for Working Group members to participate in discussion, which may include meetings, email, blogs, and other means.
• Propose to the AMIA program committee panels, separate meetings, papers, and posters for the Annual Symposium in the domain of decision support.
• Provide educational materials on decision support to AMIA members.
• Through workgroup discussions and meetings, identify opportunities for AMIA to become more involved in clinical decision support by partnering with governmental, academic, and industry activities.
• Look for opportunities for Working Group activities to carry out the AMIA CDS Roadmap recommendations, available on the AMIA website.
• Harness AMIA member experience and expertise in clinical decision support to help achieve AMIAs goal to transform US health system and improve the health of the nation through health information technology.
