Hoda Sayed-Friel, Vice President Strategy and Marketing

As vice president of strategy and marketing, Ms. Sayed-Friel is responsible for charting the company’s strategic direction for both the near term and the future, including overseeing the evolution of MEDITECH as an EHR vendor responsible for the full care spectrum. She is a leading national advocate for the use of information technology to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of healthcare and has leveraged the collective expertise of the MEDITECH community to address the complex challenges health care organizations face today.

Ms. Sayed-Friel has influenced the development and adoption of Advanced Clinical Systems among caregivers and has been actively involved in discussions with customers to promote interoperability and better understand their interpretations of Meaningful Use.

In addition, Ms. Sayed-Friel spearheads both national and local efforts to promote the widespread adoption of interoperable Electronic Health Records. She consults with national leaders and contributes to influential organizations such as the Markle Foundation’s Connecting for Health steering committee, the e-Health Initiative, and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).

Ms. Sayed-Friel earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Northeastern University. Before coming to MEDITECH, she worked at New England Baptist Hospital as a Medical Technologist and Education Coordinator. She has been with MEDITECH for over 20 years.

Prior to her appointment as vice president, Ms. Sayed-Friel served as director of development and Client/Server clinical applications for Next Generation. In February 2012, she was promoted to vice president, strategy and marketing.

Steven Jones, MD, Physician Informaticist

Steven Jones, MD, is a board-certified attending physician since 1999. He has experience in the full range of family practice, including obstetrics, pediatrics, adolescent and adult medicine and geriatrics. His experience includes both the inpatient and outpatient settings, leading to a broad understanding of hospital and outpatient workflows.

Dr. Jones was directly involved in the implementation and ongoing development of the outpatient Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution at Lamprey Healthcare, a network of clinics across Southern New Hampshire. The EMR project received the HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence in 2008. He has served as Exeter Hospital's Information Systems Medical Director and Informatics Physician (a role equivalent to CMIO) and during his tenure at Exeter, the hospital received Most Wired status (Small & Rural) in 2009 and 2010 and again (Most Improved) in 2011.

Dr. Jones has been a long-time member of MEDITECH’s Physician Advisory Committee, and an outspoken participant in MEDITECH's annual Physician Forum. He continues to lead discussions on key industry issues and give direction on MEDITECH's system functionality. Dr. Jones currently serves as the Chair of Exeter Hospital's Medical Records Committee and now acts as MEDITECH's lead physician for Electronic Health Record development efforts, while also working across MEDITECH on multiple clinical projects.
