Unintended Consequences Discussed at AMIA 2011
October 25, 2011
During this session, panelists explored several strategic, political, and policy-related implications of unintended consequences (UCs) surrounding the adoption of health information technology (HIT) and/or exchange of Health Information Exchange (HIE).
Building on issues explored in AMIA’s previous policy meeting on UCs and focusing on current events and possible future scenarios, panelists considered where national policy developments and other actions could help prevent UCs from occurring or mitigate the impact if they did.
