AMIA Leader Teams up with HP on Pledge to Children's Hospital
Hewlett-Packard recently pledged $25 million to help Lucile Packard Children's Hospital carry out a major expansion to double its size and conduct a joint research effort, using sophisticated computer analysis to improve treatment protocols and safety procedures by scientists at the hospital and at HP Labs. AMIA Board Member and ACMI Fellow Atul Butte, MD, PhD, is the director of the Children’s Hospital Center for Pediatric Bioinformatics, and he is working on the partnership with HP scientists. Dr. Butte said of HP “They have incredible expertise in data mining, so it's an absolutely great synergy for us to get the benefit of their expertise and methodologies."
