Information is Care

Don Detmer discusses the aims of the AMIA Global Partnership Program (AMIA GPP). This is an initiative of the American Medical Informatics Association in collaboration with the International Medical Informatics Association to improve informatics knowledge and skills in low resource nations through a network of local, regional and global 'centers of expertise and excellence' to improve health and health care through the use of information and communications technology. Open source software is available but investment is still needed to train medical staff to use it and plan and deliver better health care.
