The AMIA Board of Directors attended their first meeting hosted at AMIA’s new headquarters office on May 3 in Bethesda, Md. Members addressed a packed agenda which included an overview by new President and CEO Dr. Kevin Fickenscher on the future goals and direction of AMIA. Dr. Fickenscher joined AMIA on March 19.

AMIA continues to attract more new members to what is inarguably one of the best interdisciplinary, research and data-driven informatics professional organizations in the field. While other organizations can provide depth in an individual discipline, AMIA excels at bringing together the strength of many voices across the spectrum of health and healthcare related professions. AMIA members have always understood that informatics does not equal HIT. The power to improve quality, reduce cost and offer better care lies in the informatics and analytics of healthcare data.
