Dr. Wilson is an AMIA member and member of CHI and POI working groups. He participates primarily in the AMIA-affiliated Workshop on Interactive Systems in Healthcare (WISH). “In the Information Systems research community we have a strong interest in supporting consumer web applications and other forms of e-commerce, so it's natural for us to orient toward patient-centered aspects of healthcare informatics. The CFP is directed toward bringing together researchers from all relevant fields to address emerging services, applications and portals designed to connect patients with their healthcare providers,” said Dr. Wilson.

10x10 Virtual Course Biomedical and Health Informatics for Emergency Physicians

William Hersh, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology at Oregon Health and Science University in conjunction with ACEP directs the
10x10 emergency medicine course tailored to emergency physicians, nurses and other emergency personnel. It culminates in an in-person session at the 2012 Scientific Assembly of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Denver from October 8-11.

Effect of Clinical Decision-Support Systems: A Systematic Review found that clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) are effective in improving health care process measures across diverse settings, and that limited evidence is available about the impact on clinical and economic outcome measures. This article expands on an evidence report from AHRQ, titled
Enabling Health Care Decisionmaking through Health Information Technology (Health IT), which discusses features key to successful implementation of CDSSs.

Grant Notice: Coordinating Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice
The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation has joined with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and The John A. Hartford Foundation to support the creation of a national
Coordinating Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice, announced last week by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The four foundations will provide the Center with up to $8.6 million in grants over five years. HRSA is currently accepting proposals from academic sites around the United States that are interested in hosting the center.
