iHealth 2014 website launches
The iHealth 2014 Conference website ihealthconference.org launched this week. First announced at the 2012 Annual Symposium, program development is well underway. AcademyHealth is the co-host. AMDIS, ANIA, are lending organizational support and the Program Planning team also includes representatives from industry and providers. Sponsorship opportunities are available.The event is January 30 - February 1, 2014 in Orlando at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista.
The iHealth 2014 Conference is focused on applied clinical and operational informatics. It is built around six principles:

AMIA Submits Comments on MU Stage 3
AMIA has submitted comments to the Health Information Technology Policy Committee (HITPC) about Meaningful Use (MU) Stage 3. AMIA is grateful to the many members who participated in the response process, which included an interactive teleconference to identify areas of concerns about and suggestions for enhancements to the proposed MU Stage 3 requirements.

1) ONC Draft Health IT Patient Safety Plan. ONC has released for comment the Health IT Patient Safety Action and Surveillance Plan. The Health IT Safety Plan PDF. Comments are due by February 4, 2013.
2) E-Reporting via Electronic Health Records. CMS has published a request for information (RFI) as part of efforts to help hospitals use electronic health records to automatically report patient data required to meet clinical quality standards.
Clinical Informatics Subspecialty Certification Exam Date Oct. 7 - 18, 2013
The first examination for certification in the subspecialty of Clinical Informatics will be offered from October 7-18, 2013. The online application will be available from March 1, 2013 through June 1, 2013 on the ABPM website at www.theabpm.org. Admission requirements PDF. IOM and NAE Third Annual Collegiate App Challenge
The Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) invites college and university students to participate in the Third Annual Go Viral to Improve Health: IOM-NAE Health Data Collegiate Challenge. Teams will use available health data to develop effective, innovative, new applications that take on the nation's pressing health issues. $18,000 in prize money will be awarded to the Challenge winners. Teams can register until February 27.
JAMIA Student Editorial Board Applications Due February 15
JAMIA is seeking applications from biomedical informatics trainees for positions on the Student Editorial Board (SEB). Details about this program may be found in a published editorial in JAMIA. A goal of the program is to improve all of these skills through experience and mentorship, and several full JAMIA Editorial Board members initially served as SEB members during their training.
