AMIA Seeks Member Input for ONC Stage 3 MU Request for Comments
The Health IT Policy Committee is seeking public comment on proposed recommendations for Stage 3 of the meaningful use program. Contact Meryl Bloomrosen, AMIA’s VP for Public Policy, to participate. AMIA is partnering with AcademyHealth to convene two special sessions at the National Health Policy Conference (NHPC), Washington, February, 4-5, 2013. AMIA is helping develop a plenary session entitled “Health Information Technology and National Health Policy Moving Forward” and a breakout session on EHR Usability. More information.
2012 Deloitte-AMIA Health Informatics Industry Maturity Report Released
Deloitte and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) have collaborated to begin to offer insight about the current status of health informatics in the U.S. health care industry via the Health Informatics Industry Maturity Survey. The primary objectives in conducting this initial survey were to understand how health informatics was valued in the industry and how confident organizations were in their ability to realize that value.

CMS finalizes rules affecting EHR incentive reporting, e-prescribing. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' issued their final 2013 payment rules for hospitals, physicians and others. CMS will accept comments on both rules through Dec. 31, 2012. Resource 1. Resource 2.
CMS Releases Stage 2 Meaningful Use Specification Sheets with Details on Each Measure CMS has added Stage 2 meaningful use specification sheets for both eligible professionals (EPs) and for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) to help them participate in Stage 2 of meaningful use in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs. Indian Health Services Launches PHR. IHS is building a first-generation personal health records (PHR) system to serve more than 2 million beneficiaries.
mhealth Partnership Forms to Advance Understanding of mHealth Privacy and Security Policies. mHealth Alliance, Thomson Reuters Foundation, Baker & McKenzie and Merck announce collaboration to analyze mHealth privacy and security policies in seven countries.
NIST Awards MU Standards and Interoperability Contract. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded a contract to test standards and interoperability as part of meaningful use of electronic health records.
ONC Releases MU Reference Materials. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) has released a pair of "quick reference grids" to compare Stage 2 meaningful use standards with its associated 2014 EHR certification criteria for Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the program
ONC Releases 2014 Draft Test Methods: Wave Seven. The ONC has released of the Wave 7 2014 Edition Draft Test Methods (test procedures, tools, and applicable test data and files).Comments and suggestions should be submitted to ONC.Certification@hhs.gov. All submissions should include "2014 Test Methods" in the subject line. Please be as specific as possible in your comment submission.
ONC launches HIT-FACA Workgroup Application Database. ONC has developed an online database system to allow anyone with an interest in contributing expertise in the numerous aspects of HIT to submit their information for future consideration for Health Information Technology Federal Advisory Committee (HIT-FACA) workgroup membership. ONC will use this resource to identify potential workgroup members. Federal Register notice.
