Types of Symposium Presentations


Contributed Papers
There will be peer-reviewed papers presented at AMIA 2005 encompassing all aspects of research, development, theory, and applications in medical informatics and health information technology. Papers are grouped under the two tracks: Foundations of Informatics and Applications in Informatics.

Panels
There will be more than two dozen panels at AMIA 2005, featuring experts in medical informatics from around the world. Many will be state-of-the-art overviews, bringing together multiple perspectives on key trends and issues in important areas of the field.

Invited Presentations
The Scientific Program Committee have invited key players in the informatics community to provide current information on programming including a panel led by Dr. David Brailer, officials at AHRQ, and others.

Poster Sessions
Hundreds of posters presenting in-progress and recently concluded research, and demonstrating new and evolving products, providing a glimpse into the applied medical informatics future will be on display.

Demonstrations
AMIA 2005 will feature a variety of demonstrations of innovative health information systems ranging from the fully deployed, to the prototypical, to the experimental.

Workshops
Workshops offer participants with a common interest the opportunity to gather for formal and informal discussions and presentations during evening sessions.

Working Group Designated Events
Many presentations at AMIA 2005 will be designated as AMIA Working Group presentations and have been submitted directly from work accomplished by one of AMIA’s 20 working groups.
