Clinical Informatics Manager & Analysts

Job Classification: Clinical Informatics Manager 023001
Wage & Hour Status:Exempt
Reports To:Chief Information OfficerDate: 7/1/96

Position Purpose:

Manages the development, implementation, training, evaluation, and maintenance of all Clinical Informatics projects.Coordinates and facilitates communications with areas that interface with the Clinical and Physician Services areas in relation to automated information. 

Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement): 

A Bachelor’s Degree and formal education as a Registered Nurse is required.Three years experience in a nursing leadership level position at a health care institution of similar size and complexity. Must be knowledgeable of new trends in clinical management and information systems, and be able to apply data processing technology for the clinical and physician services areas. Must have a thorough knowledge of Nursing practices and principles typically gained through graduating from an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure/Certification Requirement:

Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of (XX).

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: 

*Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the Information Systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice. 
*Manages the development and implementation of clinical and physician information systems to ensure desired goals and objectives are met.  *Researches and coordinates the implementation of clinical computer applications which provide optimum productivity, patient confidentiality, and system security and are in accordance with the organization’s long-range goals. 
*Develops and organizes educational training programs to ensure the proficiency within clinical service areas, applications are utilized for maximum efficiency, and users are informed of new updates and revisions. 
*Collaborates with health care professionals using automation to ensure appropriate, effective usage and understanding of the systems. 

Supervision/Work Direction:

Incumbent is responsible for five Clinical Informatics Analysts. 

Dimension: Annual Payroll: $200,000 Annual Operation Budget: $300,000

Blood Exposure Risk:    None. This position is classified as a Category III position under OSHA guidelines with no risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials.
