CLINICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS ASSOCIATE
Job Summary
Responsible to the Director and Manager of the Department of
Clinical Computing. Works collaboratively with all Departments within the Information
Systems Division, Clinical Departments and Sections, in addition to other Departments as
necessary in problem solving issues related to Clinical Information Systems,
communication, documentation, and in the implementation and maintenance of the Clinical
Information System. Participates in the design and implementation of the Clinical
Information System (CIS) as it pertains to clinical practice. Participates in in-service
and computer training of current and incoming clinical staff, students, and faculty.
Professionally accountable to the Director of Professional Nursing.
Job Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning, development, implementation,
maintenance, and evaluation of the automated CIS. These activities may include database
building, programming, data collection and cataloguing of gathered information,
documentation of the process, etc. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the process
involved in these activities.
- Participate in the process of revising and implementing changes in
both the automated and manual components of the CIS. Respond appropriately to requests and
concerns from users or others affected by the system.
- Provide proactive user support of the CIS including but not limited
to training and education. Assist in evaluation and development of training and in-service
programs.
- Participate in systems analysis and research related to the CIS.
- Maintain membership on, or consultation to, appropriate committees,
work groups, or task forces as needed to facilitate the on-going process of the design,
implementation, and revision of automated and manual components of the CIS.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of:
- current trends and issues in health care, nursing practice,
Healthcare Informatics, JCAHO standards
- enterprise policies and procedures as related to clinical practice,
and the legal implications of the CIS
- clinical applications currently in use and their relationship to
other enterprise information systems
- structure and hierarchy of the enterprise
- Participate in presentations and publications about the CIS at
conferences and in journals as appropriate. Attend conferences and seminars as
appropriate.
- Maintain membership in organizations that enhance professional
growth.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
B.S.N. with three years experience in clinical nursing or comparable
experiences required. Licensed to practice in the state of NH. Experience and genuine
interest in information systems preferred. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with
good organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
