Wage & Hour Status: Exempt

Reports To:Clinical Informatics Manager Date: 12/1/98

Position Purpose:

Plan, coordinate, and monitor the development, implementation, training, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned projects.Coordinates and facilitates communications with areas that interface with the Clinical and Physician Services areas in relation to automated information. 

Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement): 

Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical-related profession is required. A minimum of one year clinical experience at a health care institution of similar size and complexity; must be knowledgeable of new trends in clinical practice and information systems, and be able to apply data processing technology for the clinical and physician services areas. Must have a thorough knowledge of clinical practices and principles, which is gained through graduating from an accredited school or college. 

Licensure/Certification Requirement:

Incumbent must be licensed as a professional in the state of (XX).

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: 

*Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application. 

*Assists in the development, implementation, education, evaluation, maintenance and coordination of clinical and physician information systems. 

*Researches the actual implementation of systems to assess system effectiveness and satisfaction to ensure patient confidentiality and system security. 

*Assists in development and organization of educational training programs and conducts inservices. *Coordinates the assurance of proficiency within clinical service areas and interfacing services for each new application installed to ensure applications are utilized for maximum efficiency.

*Assists others in developing criteria for application, development, project planning, hardware, and consulting services evaluation and selection of clinically related systems.

Supervision/Work Direction: N/A 

Dimension: The incumbent has contact with all personnel from staff to President level both inside and outside the organization; with vendors and organizations to exchange information regarding available programs, applications, etc.
