Excelsior College Health Care Informatics Certificate


The 17- credit Web-based Graduate level Certificate Program in Health Care Informatics is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to take a leadership role in the selection and implementation of health care information management systems, and in applying the knowledge gained from the information generated from these systems.

The enrollment requirements are a bachelor's degree in a health care discipline or bachelor's degree and work experience in a health care organization. The Certificate Program in Health Care Informatics accepts applications for admission on a rolling or continuous basis.

You may take one or more courses without enrolling in the certificate program. Non-matriculated students will be required to meet the same admission requirements as matriculated students.

HINF 522: Informatics and the Health Care Delivery System (3 credits)
HINF 551: System Lifecycle (4 credits)

Goal
To prepare graduates to practice and conduct research in nursing and health care informatics, towards the improvement of patient care, through complete familiarity with system development life cycle and all phases and methods of information technology.

Our Post Masters Program in Nursing Informatics is now fully on-line. This program is designed for individuals who already possess a Masters degree (or higher) in *Nursing*. The University of Maryland School of Nursing announces the initiation of a fully on-line Masters degree in Nursing Informatics beginning in the Fall of 2002. (40 credits). 

This program builds from the existing on-line courses . Ten credits of core coursework (NURS 701, NURS 602 & NURS 606) are currently under construction and will be available beginning in the Fall of 2002. Six credits of specialty coursework (Managerial Health Finance & Organizational Theory) can be either taken on line via UMUC or transferred in from an external University (with approval). Applications are being accepted for Summer and Fall of 2002.

University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Nursing


The Health Care Informatics course offered at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Nursing is a 3 credit hour, web-based course designed to provide an overview of the diverse options for the use of computerized systems in health care organizations and for the delivery of health care. The foci include theories, concepts, and principles relevant to health care informatics and the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support clinical and administrative decision-making. This course is offered every fall semester as part of our Health Care Systems-Informatics track in the master's program, but is open to students who are not enrolled at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
