Student Awards Presented at AMIA 2000 Annual Symposium
Los Angeles, CA, November 4, 2000 - Annual Student Paper Award winners were announced during the opening ceremonies of the 2000 Annual Symposium of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). Presenter Scott Evans, PhD, explained that 51 papers were submitted from students in 28 institutions in 12 countries. Eight finalists were chosen based on innovation of content, organization and clarity of the written presentation, relevance to AMIA, and relevant prior work.
The eight finalists were invited by AMIA to present their paper to judges at the AMIA Annual Symposium. The oral presentations were judged on overall scientific quality, relevance, contribution of work to AMIA, knowledge and contribution of student, clarity of presentation, quality of the answers to questions, and quality of visual aids. The award winners include:
