Industry Advisory Council (IAC)
IAC represents the best collaborative efforts of researchers, informaticians, and professionals employed in the commercial sector. IAC meets on a quarterly and ad-hoc basis. IAC is currently open to all AMIA corporate partners. IAC provides:
- An ethical and objective environment within which participants can identify shared vision and address common issues
- Strategy and direction for AMIA Corporate Relations and AMIA Board of Directors
- Programs and special events for the AMIA community
- Excellent networking and business development opportunities to its members
Consider the benefits of becoming an active IAC contributor:
- Access the intellectual resources of other corporate members in a pre-competitive, collaborative environment
- Opportunities to network and work directly with the AMIA Board of Directors, Committee chairs, and other thought leaders

Program Areas for 2012
IAC will facilitate the development of proposals, help secure funding, and spearhead next-generation solutions ideation for individual and corporate AMIA members. These activities will require critical thinking to scope and structure a program that is achievable, builds on prior work, addresses critical gaps, and is appropriate for AMIA to address. IAC will tackle one or more of the following themes in 2012:
- Advancement of the Secondary Uses of Health Data
- Privacy and security
- Data quality
- Personalized Medicine
- Genetic based research
- Decision support models
- Human Factors and Usability
- CDS and DSS optimization
- Clinical Documentation and Workflow
