Will eHealth widen or narrow health disparities? Every day, millions of people benefit from patient portals, mobile apps, and other eHealth tools. eHealth can improve provider-patient communication, support family caregivers, and enable ongoing self-management. But the benefits of these eHealth tools may disproportionately accrue to certain subsets of patients, particularly those that already have better health and better access to health care.
We need actionable strategies to ensure that patient portals and other consumer-centric eHealth technologies address the needs of at-risk and traditionally underserved populations. This Webinar will explore approaches for ensuring that consumer eHealth tools do not exacerbate health disparities, and opportunities to use eHealth to narrow current health disparities. Using eHealth tools without explicitly considering the implications for equity can lead to increased health disparities and missed opportunities.
Learning Objectives
During this webinar you will learn about:
- The overlap between the digital divide and health disparities
- A framework for assessing “meaningful access” to eHealth
- A segmentation framework to drive eHealth equity strategies
- Tactics for promoting eHealth equity
