Driskill Graduate Training Program in Life Sciences at Northwestern University
Informatics methods are becoming standard in many areas of biological and medical research, but much of the research and training centers around using biomedical informatics (BMI) tools to answer research questions. In contrast, BMI training focuses on building new tools. The difference between BMI training and technology-focused training programs, such as Biotechnology or Medical Physics, is the breadth of application domain. Today, BMI research training occurring at NU is scattered. The DGP BMI Track provides a central nexus for BMI trainees, whether they are formally in the track or not. All research trainees interested in BMI from all the training programs are welcome at BMI seminars and meetings. Our aim is to increase BMI awareness across the institution.
