TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE: |
Over fifteen years of experience in the Information Technology industry. Six years of providing technical customer support and education to users of McKesson’s STAR suite of healthcare information systems. Nine years of database administration and programming experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database management systems software. Programming experience includes SQL, T/SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Unix/Linux shell scripting languages, and Visual Basic.
Worked for six years providing technical customer support, installation and upgrade implementations, and programming solutions to healthcare professionals using reporting software to generate customized reports for all modules of their healthcare information system, including pharmacy, lab, radiology, medical records, patient care and patient accounting. Two years of experience teaching database programming and database management systems administration courses to healthcare professionals.
Worked as a member of several information technology development teams creating software solutions. Provided companies substantial cost savings by learning how to administer multiple database management systems. Developed software programs to accomplish team goals without having to purchase costly commercial software tools. Highlights include: · Developed a disk space monitoring program, saving the company $12,000 by not having to purchase a software application to perform this function. · Converted data from a Sybase database to an Oracle database during a software conversion project of an enterprise-wide commissions system for a major telecommunications firm. Independently learned all the functions necessary to extract the data from Sybase, saving the company $20,000 by not having to hire a Sybase consultant.
