Purpose of Position: To provide physician leadership and professional support for all hospital clinical information systems implementations served by Adventist Health System Information Services (AHS-IS) Responsibilities/Duties: Work with Clinical Informatics Teams and CMIO on implementation of hospital clinical information systems impacting physician (and related) workflows. Serve as the corporate physician liaison with the local medical and executive staff and Physician Advisory Committee at each hospital during engagement and implementation Work with clinical information teams on designing, building and implementing enhancements to the AHS Cerner system build over time as clinician users develop requests for system improvements. Provide expert physician input to the CIS teams so the AHS-IS Cerner build can evolve over time and continue to meet clinicians needs Serve as a physician expert on appropriate Cerner client user advisory group panels providing physician input to Cerner for future product enhancements to meet evolving AHS-IS needs. Provide expert physician input on other clinical information system projects and infrastructure. Understands and communicates trends in healthcare, clinical systems, information technology and point of care products. Leads and facilitates physician and clinician advisory groups in the design and enhancement of clinical information systems. Assists in the development of strategic and tactical plans for clinical information systems. Develop understanding of physician needs and build relationships with physicians to assure widespread acceptance, adoption and meaningful use of clinical information systems. Responsible for developing, maintaining, implementing and supporting processes, materials and programs to insure effective physician education concerning the use of clinical information systems. Teaches, motivates and provides for medical and clinical staff needs related to national IT initiatives, Corporate IT strategies and goals. Facilitate and manage change in a manner consistent with the overall direction of the organization. Requirements: Medical Degree, Advanced Medical Leadership Training (MBA, MHSA, MMM) preferred Competence with Cerner Millennium applications required (or commitment to be competent by completing certification with assigned Cerner Millennium certifications) Experience with CPOE (Computerized Physician/Provider Order Entry) preferred Experience with Medical Informatics Minimum of 2 years of medical practice experience Master’s degree or higher preferred Passion for evidence-based medicine Highly-developed communication skills Possesses ability to motivate others to achieve system’s vision and goals Good at public speaking and presentation Politically astute with demonstrated diplomacy as a physician leader Self-directed and self-motivated Ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams of clinicians Ability to build consensus Strong understanding of clinical workflow in inpatient, emergency department and outpatient settings, with a strong understanding of clinical information systems as well as outcomes measurement. Significant experience and a track record of demonstrated success in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives working with medical staff physician leadership using evidence-based medicine Analytical ability to conceptualize well in unstructured, dynamic, and/or multidisciplinary environments requiring analysis, foresight, intuition, critical thinking skills and mature judgment as well as a thorough knowledge of fundamental doctrines, theories, principles, and practices of several disciplines to find solutions to unusual or unprecedented problems * Qualifications Job : Information Technology Organization, AHS Information Services Primary Location : US-Tampa Metro Area Schedule: Full-time Shift : Day Job Level : Director Education Level : Doctorate Degree Travel : Yes, 50 % of the Time
