Dr. Middleton's research focuses on clinical informatics - the applied science surrounding design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical information systems in complex environments. He designs and implements informatics infrastructure and services as essential components of a broad-based strategy for clinical decision support for providers and patients, knowledge management and translational research, and which supports technology assessment and comparative effectiveness research of novel health IT interventions.
