Thomas Payne, MD, FACP's major professional interest is the use and evaluation of clinical computing systems, especially computer-based medical record systems in patient care, clinical research, and quality improvement. He is also interested in electronic documentation in EMRs, natural language processing, and in studying operations of clinical computing systems: how we support users, plan maintenance, recover from downtime and in general keep them continuously operating.
