Edward N. Brandt, Jr., President of the University of Maryland at Baltimore, has promoted a primary concern for the importance of information processing as a means for enhancing the education of health professional students and practitioners. He has done this through his special interest in the activities of the National Library of Medicine. including its services, intramural research and development, and extramural research support.
