Physician Continuing Education
AMIA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. AMIA designates this continuing medical education for up to 56 hours of Category 1 credit toward the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spends in the educational activity.
AMIA 10x10 Objectives
- To provide introductory level informatics knowledge/education for health care professionals who are in a position to advise or (in some cases) apply informatics-rooted solutions to problems encountered in their healthcare practice settings.
- To raise awareness to the importance and role of informatics in answering the health information technology training challenge across the clinical/health care, translational bioinformatics, and public health domains.
- To promote information exchange about AMIA's member institutions currently providing education and training opportunities in informatics.
- To prepare individuals for further training.
Who Should Attend
The ideal student will possess an educational background in the health sciences including work experience. Students will come to the AMIA 10x10 program from a diverse set of professional and education backgrounds. The common denominator for students is they seek to acquire new competencies and skills that place them in a position to face and contribute intelligently to the changing world of health information technology.
